Rabbi Boruch Gorin is a leading voice in the revival of Jewish life in post-Soviet Russia. Born in Odessa in 1973, he grew up under communist rule but in a home where mezuzahs still hung and Pesach was quietly celebrated. At 15, he moved to Moscow to study at the Lubavitcher yeshiva, receiving smicha in 1994. Deeply inspired by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Gorin became not only a spiritual leader but a cultural trailblazer. At just 18, he founded Lehaim, the first independent Jewish magazine in the former USSR, launching a lifelong mission to reconnect Russian Jews with their heritage. He went on to lead media and public affairs for the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia and became the longtime spokesperson for Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar. Since 2012, he has chaired Moscow’s Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center. Through his publishing house Knizhniki, Rabbi Gorin has brought Jewish texts—Talmud, midrash, philosophy, and literature—into Russian homes, schools, and minds, making him the most prolific Jewish publisher in the Russian-speaking world. Outspoken and principled, he has been a rare moral voice in times of crisis, calling out antisemitism and war alike. Yet at heart, he remains a teacher, father of six, and a Jew from Odessa who never stopped believing in the power of Torah, language, and light.

Rabbi Daniel Rabin brings a dynamic blend of tradition, compassion, and innovation to his role as Senior Rabbi of Caulfield Shule in Melbourne. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Rabbi Rabin pursued rabbinical studies across South Africa, Israel, the USA, and Australia, earning smicha from Machon L’Horoah and Machon Ariel. His journey has taken him through diverse communities, from leading adult education in Johannesburg to directing university programs in Atlanta, Georgia. In Melbourne, he served as a chaplain at several universities, orchestrating events like Australia’s largest Shabbat dinner for 500 students. Beyond the pulpit, Rabbi Rabin is deeply committed to mental health and well-being, holding a master’s degree in Counseling and Psychotherapy. His leadership extends to communal roles, having served as President of the Rabbinical Council of Victoria and currently as Co-Vice President. At Caulfield Shule, Rabbi Rabin has initiated “Project ITAG,” focusing on Israel, Torah, Avodah, and Gemilut Chassadim (acts of loving-kindness), aiming to invigorate Jewish life and learning. Together with his wife, Rebbetzin Sarah, and their children, he continues to inspire and connect with the community, fostering a vibrant and inclusive environment.
